Hello everybody! I have a question. In 1997 I got whacked by a big assed tree that broke my leg above my ankle about 90 degrees offa what I was born with. The resulting surgury left me with a five inch titanium plate, including six screws on the outside bone and two, two inch screws holding the ball of my ankle(inside) in place. The last time I twisted the thing (two years ago) the dumbass Dr. said 'twas better left in place, 'cause it would make it stronger, but I think he was fulla shit. The fuckers hurt. Every time I wear boots (especally my combat boots), the goddamn things rub and make some horrid lookin' bruises....

The question.... Do I really need the plate and pins anymore, or am I allowing my distrust for the medical profession dictate my feelings on the subject. The last X-ray showed the bones looking pretty thick around the original break. They even sawed some of the damaged bone out, but all those TUMS that I constantly eat have seemed to have congregated there.....

You may answer now....... Even the smart assed ones, 'cause that's what makes this place what it is, but an honest opinion would be nice too.

Hey! I got a plate too! It's on my left leg,also close to my ankle. My doc said it didn't matter if it was off or on but removing it means I gotta heal up all over again. I guess the bone sometimes grow around the plate.
What's really cool is when I take a powerful magnet to it,it stays there!
But you should get a second opinion. If it's rubbing your boots causing a bruise,then maybe it needs to come outta there. But you may have to heal up all over again for you'll be left with holes where the screws were.

Like I said LF, TUMS. I eat the fuckers like candy. I have calcium to spare. We're plate bros! mines on my left too.

It's a wonder I'm still alive to 30, between a shoulder that pops out when I sneeze hard (once went out while snorkling offa La Hoya beach, about drown trying to make it back), getting whacked by trees, getting stabbed, motorcycle wrecks without hemet, hitting trees while snowboarding, being drunk and fucking with llamas, getting kicked in the head by an elk while in its death throes (I should have shot it a second time instead of trying to be cool and cut its throat to save a bullet) falling off of chair lifts and being accident prone in geneal. Fuck, I need a strait jacket.

Hey, some kid who lived in the apartment below me was running from the cops while drunk -- rather than go around the building, where his door was, he ran straight INTO the building and knocked himself out for a few minutes. His unconsciousness luckily saved him from the cops, who missed that little glee. I hadn't a clue what had hit the building that night (it shook pretty badly -- rotten construction) until a few months later when I heard the story from the little punk myself.
