Don't mind me, I'm just motivating myself
No need for anyone to post in here unless you feel compelled to help me stay motivated. Okay so, I joined the YMCA this past week and have made a promise to myself that I will workout at least 40 minutes a day 5-6 days a week. So here is where I post that I've kept up my promise for all to see by posting what I've done each day/week. I think putting myself out there publicly may help me to stay on task with this.
so, here's what I did this week:
Tuesday:
bit the bullet and bought a Y membership
Wednesday:
15 minutes on the bike
15 minutes on the treadmill (walking)
(I wanted to start out light since I haven't exercised in a LONG time)
Thursday:
20 minutes on the bike
10 minutes on the elliptical runner at a moderate incline
15 minutes on the treadmill (brisk walking)
20 minutes on the nautilus machines
Friday:
20 minutes on the treadmill (15 min brisk walking and 5 min "power" walking)
20 minutes on the bike
Saturday:
1 hour of NYC ballet workout program
(warm up, floor barre (leg, upper and lower back work), ab work, position work, cool down)
so, there's the summary of what I did this week so far.
I actually didn't plan on working out today, but luckily exercising daily is a bit addictive.
3.5 pounds gone this week
-------------------------------------------------------------
Goal Progress
You are currently 43 lb above the target weight.
The deadline for your goal is 99 days (14 weeks, 1 days) away. (12/25/2004)
To meet your goal you need to lose about 3.04 lb per week.

Vyper you seem to be focusing a lot on your legs. That's important, but there's a whole upper half there too. Occasionally I do an exercise I learned in prison called burpees, and they are very effective. You basically start from a standing position, bend down and touch your hands to the ground (keeping back straight), kick out your legs, do a pushup, then swing your legs back in and back to a stand. Once your body adjusts, you can do them rather quickly and the endorphin rush alone is well worth the effort.

I do the bike and treadmill at the gym more for cardio workouts than for focusing on any particular region. My legs are probably 90% muscle already, but my main goal on those is to keep my target heart rate for 20 minutes on each, so I use a low resistance, but a fast pace so as not to add any more muscle bulk to my legs. The nautilus-type machine work that I do and the NYC Ballet workout I do at home is where I focus on abs, shoulders, arms, upper and lower back. So I get a pretty decently rounded amount of work in all of the major areas.
I actally just got through doing 30 minutes of streching and ab work. The NYCB Ab routine is NO FUCKING JOKE either, my abs are burning hot by the time I'm done with it.

Good on you. If you're serious about it, it really is about the best way to lose weight. It helps if you enjoy doing it, besides.
I've been, piecemiel, buying a bunch of boxing equipment lately, and I have great fun with it. I'm trying to keep to a schedule though, with less success than you.

Squat thrusts are burpees sans the pushup. I wasn't actually in prison; I got it from a New Yorker article on the Aryan Nations. One of their deep inside guys would do burpees sadistically, for hours on end. Then he got out and was the size of a bear, so he killed a few people (before being put back in). They really do toughen you up.

I've been eating a lot healthier for a while now, but I've also noticed that since I've started exercising every day, I haven't wanted to eat as much. But, basically, I pretty much eat what I want, but not nearly as much as I used to. I can go to taco bell and order one chicken soft taco now, or Wendy's and get a salad and be perfectly satisfied. I refuse to ever try to "diet" again though. I still like my bread and pasta and whatnot, but I just buy a healthier version (low-carb bread/tortillas, whole wheat pasta, etc...)

probably not a sight you'd want to see... which is of course the reason I've gotten so motivated to do something about it

I'm no real motivator cause I'm lazy as fuck, but I got some tips if you can believe that.
Throw away your scale. No need to see how much you lost or gained. Weight fluctuates all the time in people. Weigh yourself once a month instead of daily.
I've been doing this and it's really helped me. I used to eat like no tomorrow but now I drink a bottle of water before I eat and I make it a habit to throw away food when I'm full. I used to think of all the starving kids in the world and finish my plate no matter what. But now I fill my plate with a human portion and say "I am full" When I'm done.
I only eat when I'm hungry. I don't care about the time. Yesterday I ate a salad during lunch and missed dinner but it was like it didn't matter.
When I crave Hagen Das Ice creme, especially at night,I crush up ice in my mouth.
And I only drink water, and sometimes OJ but less than 8 ounces. I quit pop altogether.
I replaced Peanuts and Hershey kisses with Plastic bottle caps. I chew on them until their unrecognisable.
This has been pretty easy for me. And I do walks around the block with my client after work weather permitting,
The only thing I can't quench is smoking.Maybe if I lose some significant weight I'll focus more on that.
Bravo,Vyper for wanting to live!
One day at a time, girl. Don't worry about tomorrow.

I just ordered a russian kettlebell. It should be torturous and entertaining. I've been doing some kettlebell exercises with one I made myself but it's pretty crappy. It's going to be too cold soon to do tons of heavy yardwork, so I'll need something indoors, and I am not in love with the bowflex.

I went from 100kgs to 75kgs in the last year.
I swapped weight training for kite surfing. I lost a lot of size in my muscles but the tone is better. I have loads of fun doing it and I can eat whatever I want.
