Bittersweet ~ Festival Express

Ever had a dream involving a dear and departed friend or loved one? I've had many of them over the years. Sometimes, it's like a ghost dream in that everyone in the dream knows the friend or loved one is gone in real life. Other times, the dream is carried on in a manner as if the person is still alive.

Either way, when I awaken from such dreams, I do so with a lingering mixture of gladness and longing, as well as other feelings. This was how I felt for some time after watching Festival Express.

Man, oh man. The Pearl. Pigpen. Danko. Garcia. Several others.

Don't go expecting another Woodstock '69. Granted, much of the concert footage is really good. But, this is a very special movie for reasons over and above the music. I don't know if you young-uns will understand. Either way, I hope you enjoy it.

Amen.

Very cool, just one more thing I wish I'd been around to see happen.

Scoop here at the office went to see that the other night and loved it. I didn't get to the Uptown in time. We saw the Ramones documentary the other night there, and I was shocked at how old THEY looked. And man, I think of them as new music.
