Snapshots from Kosovo

Well i was rooting around and i found a few of my old photos from back when i was on operational tour in Kosovo. Wayyyy back when i first joined the army and was only a wee green straight out of training ready to get myself killed out of pure stupidity squaddie.

I figured i would share a few of them with you all because like my granny always said, "Oi!!! share dem you miserable little sod or i'll give em to the dog!".... she was a wise woman.

So here we go... I'll try to explain each one, there aren't many... dont worry.

This is a shot of our living area, by this time it was pretty well set up and not nearly as bad as it was when we first arrived... Saying that, when autumn arrived the place turned into the Somme.

This one is a small shot of some bomb damage that NATO dished out to milosovic during the pre-invasion air raids. The building that you see here all bombed to shit was the media centre where his daughter spewed out propaganda and genocidal niceties.

This one is yet more bomb damage. This time the destruction is that of a former serbian infantry barracks.

Here we have a photo i took when driving out of pristina. It is the site of one of the mass graves. When we arrived it was being exhumed and the smell was awful. By the time i took this shot the bodies had been identifed and given a decent burial in marked graves... As you can see.

This one is a shot of a reservior my patrol was based near. Every day after either an intel patrol or random vehicle check we would go for a swim in here. We took some of our water from here... Hell, we even drank beer brewed from the water in here. Only to find out 4 months later that the reservoir was used as a body dump and at best estimate contained upwards of 200 bodies. Apparently the UN war crimes people who tested the water said it was for all intents and puposes a very big bowl of human soup. Mmmmmm, datsa spicy meat'a ballll'a!!!!

Finally we have a shot that was taken when we were patrolling one of the many villages that surrounded our patrol base. We usually patrolled the villages looking for weapon caches (of which this is one) or intel about any war criminals that were at large in the area. As it was in this village we found a nice little cache of weapons, including a few sniper rifles and a HUGE bayonet and a few other assorted thingies. The house we found these in STANK of rotten meat, we didnt find a body but the bathtub was caked with dried blood. Otherwise it was a nice village and we found a lovely stray dog that was happy as a pig in shit to see some friendly humans strolling about with beef jerky and ration packs. We ate the dog....

Anyhooo, thats all i can be assed scanning and uploading for now.... If i get a friendly response or two i may just post some more...... Enjoy
