Re-marriage

Simple: If your spouse died would you get married again?

I don't think I would. I can't imagine wanting to share my life with anyone else, I guess.

Of course, before I met my wife I never thought I'd get married.

Not really. It's more that it would be different, and in being different it would always feel contrived. Like I was trying to make it into something it wasn't.

Not that I think it should be the same, or that I'd want another relationship to be the same as this one, or that I'd try and make it the same. I suppose it's just that I equate marriage with what I have now, and anything different wouldn't feel like marriage. If that makes any sense.

Binder, I don't think that question can be answered until the time came. I've thought about the same issue, and right now I feel similarly to you; I can't imagine that I would want to share with another person in the way I do with my wife. I also know, though, that things might be different if that circumstance should ever arise.

So I guess my answer is that right now, I don't feel like I could, but it is entirely possible that I would change my mind. If I did, I wouldn't feel excessively guilty.

T has it just right on this one.
