Ghost in the Shell 2

http://www.dreamworks.com/trailers/...trlr_qt_640.mov

The first Ghost in the Shell was pretty slick. I saw it in the local artsy theater when it was released in the US. Other than the normal-anime-way-too-deep-very-long-story-line stuff it's one of the best Japanese animation movies I've ever seen. I figure Ninja Scroll ranks up there too. Giant rapists rule. I digress.

GiTS is one quite a gem, not only was it one of the few animes that i can watch (the others being patlabor 2 and akira) but it was also a lot better then the book, which is worth reading but its nothing compared to the movie imho.

now with that out of the way, im looking forward to seeing GiTS 2

if you dug GitS or cyberpunk in general, do yourself a favor and watch the tv series. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Ok.

I've refrained from posting in this thread so far. GITS is by far the best piece of manga I've seen to date (I've lost count that amount of times I've watched it).

I'm just praying it's as good as the first one.

It's quite different to the first one. It looks a LOT better, it's impossible to tell whats CG and whats traditional cell animation in places. The first film was slow, and this one is even slower. Major whatsername isn't in it, which is a let down and the sex puppets dont really make up for that, since they're freaky rather than sexy. The fan-sub version I saw did have pretty crappy subtitling. Still a great film.

Kosanagi.

Why!

That is a let down on all levels as she was vital to the original plot. Imagine 'Empire Strikes Back' with no Han Solo!
