This season has been amazing.
I love some of the newly developing chracters. The black cop that's been hording the dealers into "Amsterdam" and the young white guy who is running for mayor come to mind.
I didn't realize such big name writers were involved, but I'm not surprised, the writing is friggin' awesome. I wonder, do they employ any ex-dealers as consultants to help them with the lingo and dress? They do a real good job with it.
Some other things:
1) Is there anything more fun than watching McNulte's semi-annual "out of control alcoholic" episode? That scene with him in the bar trying to use the phone this week was priceless
B - Interesting factoid: The character who plays Stringer is actually a relatively well-known Baltimore DJ. He isn't shy about using notoriety gained through the Wire to prop up his side-gig either, as his stage name is, oddly enough, "Stringer."
Also, I wonder why they totally abandoned the dock workers story line. I'm guessing the first season had better ratings so they wanted to get back to fighting dealers and such. Don't get me wrong, this season is, so far, way better than last season was this early in the game. But you can never go wrong with scantily clad corpses of eastern european whores, ya know?
Regardless, this season has rocked. Thankfully, I don't even have to remember to tune in because HBO - On Demand automatically stores all of this seasons epi's in my digital cable box. w00t.
