In 1775 General Washington forbid officers to enlist blacks in the Revolutionary army.

In 1859 Jules Leotard performed the first flying trapeze circus act, in Paris. He went on later to design the garment that bears his name.

In 1899 British troops reached Durban, Natal, South Africa, during the Boer War.

In 1910 a man jumped into the Hudson river from a burning balloon as the first movie stunt.

In 1912 Robert Scott's body and diary was found in Antarctica.

In 1915 Theodore W. Richards became the first American to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, for determination of atomic weights.

In 1920 Judge Kennesaw Mountain Landis was elected the first major league baseball commissioner.

In 1927 the first underwater tunnel, the Holland Tunnel, connecting NY to NJ, opened.

In 1927 Leon Trotsky was expelled from the Russian Communist Party, and Stalin gained complete control.

In 1933 the first known purported photo of the legendary Loch Ness Monster was taken.

In 2000 the existence of the secret TLF Nuclear Bomb Project was revealed when the CIA found out about a secret chat room on their computers. Intelligence Officer Missphinx's cover is blown, and now the TLF must hide all weaponry ala Iraq before UN weapon inspectors find them.

Those individuals involved in the chat room scandal are said to have moved their off-color jokes to International House of Prophetic Pancakes, but Denny's is still in a state of denial over the accusations
