Oktoberfest & Howl-O-Scream at Bush Gardens

We went to Bush Gardens back in October for a company picnic with a friend and I'm just now getting the pics off of my camera. It was a pretty neat time. Maybe next year, when we have another VA pissup, we can all go to BG for a day.

They had the park all decked out for their "Howl-O-Scream" festvities, but because we had Madison with us, we stayed away from the really scary stuff.

These are some of the decorations they had near the front entrance

Next we wandered over into the "Dragon Tales" kids section

After we had a picnic lunch, we headed over to the Festhaus for dessert, beers and the Oktoberfest show

Cake, but no beers, for Madison

The show started with the oompah band coming in

and then the dancers

Madison was having a blast watching the german dancers

and dancing with them

A couple more pics of the dancers

We headed off to see the animals next...

we had to stop and get a face painting on the way though

and tadaa!

The first critters we visited were the Anheiser Busch Clydesdales. Amazing horses. One of my dalmatians came from the Anheiser Busch bloodline that they keep at the stables and use to guide the carriages when the horses are running in parades and such

Next we went to a Jack Hanna animal show, but they did not allow photography because it spooked the critters.

So, afterwards we headed to the aviary. (Some of the pics from the aviary came out a bit blurry)

one good cuckoo deserves another

More birds that we saw (not exactly sure of the types. If anyone knows, feel free to speak up)

I thought this was cute

One of the ladies from the aviary was dressed up for Haloween and holding a vulture. (I think the scariest part of her costume was the mask)

They have a bald eagle reserve there as well (pics were really blurry)

And the last pics I took before heading out were of this statue that I really liked, and the two pics came out really different with and without the flash on.
