Pfft. Protestant pomposity. The structure itself is nearly Bauhaus in its adherence to modernity, and instead of the sublime beauty of the churches of yore we get mere gaudiness. You can tell they are trying to ape the style of the high church but American Protestants have no style and they end up fucking it all up.

Make me a lego Basilique du Sacre Coeur and maybe then I'll be impressed

Most of the catholic churches in the UK are grim boxy affairs; the prods stole all the original churches and then once catholicism got up and running again, after some initial extravagences, it appears that the Church had pangs of conscience and decided that giving to the poor and needy was a better use of the cash that they raised than monstrous flash in their churches. Which makes a certain amount of sense, I think. The whole 'majestic building helps us understand majesty of God' thing seems like a fucking crock, to me.

Some guys built a whole bunch of Escher pictures in Lego. The church page has (or at least had) a picture of her cat in the alcove too that was pretty cool
