PhD
So, modulo the university approving the examiners' recommendation, I have passed my PhD. I wasn't really going to post about it, but a bunch of people asked, so I thought that I might as well.
More importantly, we have a nice big christmas tree that we got to cut (or as phorbie might have it, murder) ourselves. We don't go in for the incredible over-decoration that appears de rigeur here in the US, so you can still see that it is a tree. Some more presents are needed to cover the unattractive green base. At the moment, I only have a crappy webcam picture of the tree. It is clearly a tree, with lights, however.

You could always argue that you were thinning out the forest thus creating a healthier habitat for other trees.

The PhD. is more important than the Christmas tree, I would say. The tree is nice and big, however.
