In recogniton of the completion by our brother Smug of all of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and in recognition of his successful defense of his dissertaion in that regard I hereby move those in authority in this forum to authorize
Smug to use the letters PEE-OFF affixed after his signature and to be used in form of address where appropriate to express the joy and exhuberance of this august body of Philosophers in his accomplishment in the world of men. Such acronym to be known among us and us only as the identification of the title of Professor Eminent Emeritus-Of the Five Forums. Be it further advised by this body that the meaning and import of this title shall be held sacred and secret within this organization and shall not be mentioned outside the walls and halls of the Asylum in greater than an 80db amplification. So shall it be.

Memdink I would have made the request for all PhDs but the thought oif FunkyRooster sharing in the honor straighted me out and I would have to say that this is intended for Smug alone. Emeritus is appended to the title of those who for reasons of senility or inability to perform have merely the title and do not have to perform. In Texas we say that they can talk the talk but don't have to walk the walk.
