And here's a fun game based on the above in which you try to stop a zombie outbreak: Zombie 3.

Here's my best score so far:
42% casualties...er. Not so great.
I lucked out on this one. The zombies break out in 4 places and I was able to stop 3 of them before they got big with some rapid clicking.

The 4th outbreak engulfed half the city (and almost half its occupants) until I just said "To hell with it" and nuked the entire place.

I have played to win a couple more times and each time I end up with around 40-50% casualties.

In case of zombie outbreak the only logical choice seems to be to establish a huge kill zone and eradicate absolutely anything that moves within that zone.

There is no other option.

Yep, especially when you increase the population to maximum levels...

I've noticed in the other game (where you get to try to kill the zombies) that the zombies tend to clump together because they walk towards anything which is moving. So, that explains their pack hunting behavior. Eventually if they are restricted to an area then the infestation will stop spreading because they don't go looking for more victims (I think this is rather inaccurate since in every zombie flick ever they seem to pick a direction and start walking--maybe some kind of flocking behavior).

What spreads the infection in that simulation is panicked civilians running into wandering hordes of zombies. I've been able to improve my score by guessing which group of people I can best defend than then just constantly nuking anything that tries to enter or leave that zone. Then you have a sort of firebreak.

I've actually seen one purple dot running around panicked and not get zombified. Eventually all the zombies die off (I guess they eventually disintegrate).

I think soon after the dot stepped on its glasses accidentally and then cursed God. Or something.

That game sucked away at least 10 minutes of my life.

I managed to stop the outbreak twice.

This was the better of the two results, which doesn't say much. Don't count on me to save you from the zombies. If I learned me anything, it's "Shoot 'em in the head!"
