Your whole "I dress like an office drone and act respectable and then sit on forum where we discuss urethra fucking and public torture" bit still creeps me out. I bet it would creep out your co-workers even more.
The opener was actually Dave Lovering! He pulled off some sort of card naming trick which was pretty cool. All ten lucky ladies who volunteered were given a drumstick and a backstage pass for participating! I wish I was a woman up front at the show!
So the club supposedly holds about 2000 people, and I know it was a sellout. It was the first time the Pixies played Boston since 1992 apparently, and it might be the last time they ever play a show in Beantown. They played nearly every song off "Doolittle" and a lot from "Come On Pilgrim" and "Surfer Rosa," three from "Trompe le Monde" and only one song from "Bossanova." They were spot on the whole night and shifted their sound as the song dictated. Their best known songs were fairly straight up and clean, while they made tons of noise during "Something Against You" and "Crackity Jones," and still they added extra fun and style to tunes like "Mr. Grieves."
At the end of the night they all waved to say goodbye and did not even leave the stage before going into an encore; we just did not stop cheering until the venue kicked us out. When the band did finally say goodbye I thought Kim was going to cry. I think it really meant something to them to play one of their final shows in Boston and get a homecoming celebration.
The Red Sox have won the World Series and the Pixies reunited and I saw them in Boston. Who ever thought 2004 would be so sweet?

15 Lansdowne St.
If memory serves that was a nightclub called Spit in my days there.
I still have a plastic member's card for that place.
I saw Prince, Siouxsie, Adam and the Ants and Simple Minds there among others.

Fucking hate Simple Minds, me, what was Chrissy Hinds thinking? Ballet shoe ponce.
Actually all three were pretty good, with the Prince show being the standout. That was on his Dirty Mind tour. The acoustics in the place left something to be desired though. I suspect that in the 25 years since, some renovation has occurred though.
