Shut the FOX up!
http://www.foxblocker.com/
It should come as standard equipment on all sets.

TT, with a slight tweak, I'm sure we could convert it into a CBS News blocker for you.

Or you could live in the country outside the local Fox station's range as I do.

Fox News threads rock. They alwasy end up being totally politicised and the reality of Fox News - that being that it is shite tabloid yellow journalism - is always ignored. You can nearly guarantee that someone will start screaming about "lefties" and someone else will start screaming about "righties" and miss the point entirely. This is why Fox News threads rock.

What would be the point? They block it themselves.

So, I just want to get this straight. A concerted effort to silence a media outlet/member of the press (whether yellow-esque or not) is ok with you guys?

It's a consumer boycott. They never really seem to have much effect and are often somewhat silly, but they have to be an allowable use of consumer power, I'd have thought.

I just read the news on the net from about a zillion different sources. And that not because I'm so open-minded, but just because that's what pops up in front of me. I frequently have to check out the source, because I have little idea where they're coming from and am never sure if it's just tabloid or an advocacy job or simply fact-driven. Simply fact-driven is really nice, but next to impossible, I'd think.
I listen to NPR on the net. I also like watching old episodes of Booknotes from cspan.org.

Actually, a fair amount of the FOXnews website isn't bad (because they don't write it themselves, but buy it from AP).

Fair enough, but a boycott (last I knew) was a voluntary choice not to partake of or purchase something. If it is your choice not to watch FOX News, which I can understand, then why not just not watch it? You don't have to flip to that channel. Unless this device is designed to help the weak-willed Fox News hater, then it is rather clear that it is designed to keep others from viewing that station on the system it is installed on. So likewise, unless the intention of the buyer is to keep their kids or fellow weak-willed Fox News haters in the household from being drawn to the station like cable crack whores, then clearly the implication would be that it is to be legally installed on community TV's (i.e. clinic waiting rooms, health spas, excersise rooms, etc) by the Fox News hating owner of said establishment, or illegally spirited onto sets (despite the sites warning to the rabid against it) thus clearly impinging upon the free flow of ideas to those viewers effected. While I agree with Smug that such efforts tend to be as ineffective as they are lame, I do think it is troubling.

The point of this is to increase the power of the boycott by sending a stronger message to corporations that advertise on FOX, so I don't think that it is different in type to the normal consumer boycott, just making a (presumably doomed) effort to be more effective. Whoever pays the bills in a household can block whatever he or she wants, because it is their money that would be supporting the commercial health of whatever channel was watched on that connection, whoever watched it. So in that sense, all someone who purchased this device would be saying is 'you won't make any money off of my money'. It isn't as daft as political bumper stickers (they should make a bumper sticker that says 'political bumper stickers: really, the least you can do'), in my opinion, but that really is damning with faint praise.
