Sad that he goes for this, rather than being a deranged nutcase. Fair play to him, though, in that this all started from his wish to be a father to his children.
dude, his resignation had sod all to do with the affair, visa bollocks... it was because he slagged off the entire Cabinet publicly to his biographer in a book which was published yesterday.

He used juice to speed a visa application. He had to go. His slagging off his colleagues may have helped the evidence come to light, but he was fucked when it did come out.
nah he didn't go because of the visa thing, Blair wouldn't have backed him if that report wasn't going to let him off. The truth is is that his cabinet colleagues and many others were withdrawing their support for him because they were pissed at the book. He went because of those comments rather than the whole visa shit.

Blair let Mandelson go, and he liked Mandelson a lot more. You lie, you leave. I would say that any chance he had of clinging on went because of the book, but the cabinet pretty much all hated him anyhow, as I understand it.

Absolutely, all the biography stuff is just a blind (boom boom). Blunkett knew he had to leave because the report is going to slate him for speeding the visa process.
