um...what exactly do you mean by "Shoot me please?" Does that mean that you actually want someone to shoot you? What I can do, if you'd like, is be a witness to you shooting yourself in the foot or something. I'll even sign a paper and you can go to the notory to make it official. Just one thing: Don't kill yourself. I really don't want to be the guy that makes the call saying "yeah...um...this guy wanted me to see him shoot himself and he decided to just end it all. I took a math placement test to return to school in '91 when I was lanin's boss at a warehouse for an electronics firm in the DFW area. I walked out a few minutes after the test started almost ready to cry like a little fagboy because I'd forgotten how to do, get this, something with fractions. I'd been sober for about two years or so, and I was making more money than I'd ever made or made since and being in a pretty responsible position. I just couldn't handle the fact that I had a brain fart after walkin in there so full a myself. It was a pretty humbling fuckin experience.

Don't feel bad. My 12 year old is taking Algebra 1. She thinks it's a laugh riot that I don't remember any of it and can't help her with her homework.

The trick is to work really hard at it, until it makes sense, IBFree. Plenty of people aren't that good at maths initially but go on to become very good at it; it just requires doing a large number of maths problems until it starts to make sense (this can take some time). Doing problems sets is basically the only way to get good.

I could still do quadratics. that's a snap. I just was short-circuited.

I'd like to learn calculus. I never took it in school, and I just think it'd be a cool thing to learn. I have some texts, but I'm wonderin if I shouldn't go back and study trig and elementary analysis again first, and if I shouldn't just start from scratch and learn all my math all over again. I also had a lot of fun calculating molar masses in chemistry. Dad would write me problems to solve; it was just another brain teaser he'd put together and it was a lot of fun and a challenge.


However, I remember the scene in "Peggy Sue Got Married" when she looked at her algebra teacher and said something to the effect of, "No, you don't understand. I'm REALLY never going to use this."


Still, it'd be fun to know.
