January Snapshots

I heard the other day that this is the longest we've gone up here in over 118 years without any real accumulation of snow in the Twin Cities. It's just been too cold for snow, really.

Hammer Haus. This little puppet dog scared the shit out of me the first time I stumbled up on it in the dark on the front steps.

These are the little trash cans all over town here.

I forgot all about these pics from the other day. They had another robbery at the bank next door to the office, and the guy ran out with one a those dye packs in a roll of twenties. They caught him, but he had already dropped the cash.

the place doesn't look so spare anymore

I didn't realize I hadn't unloaded the camera in a couple of days.

I seem to always pull my camera out when I'm waitin on the 17 at the corner of Lyndale and 24th. I'm on one corner, Leaning Tower of Pizza is across from my bus stop. A laundromat is kitty-corner from me, and Muddy Waters coffee house is across Lyndale.

It had just started really snowin when I started takin these pics.

I ran to Popeye's for lunch Thursday. It wasn't as good as I remembered it. The fried chicken from Lund's grocery store is better. Note to self.

Extreme Noise. Havoc Haus, I guess.

And then it really started comin down yesterday when I was at work.

Scoop Broberg, ladies and gentlemen.

Harry vs the Human Volcano

HV himself

Harry, that's just sad.

The ever elusive Meghan, the Irish gal in the office. She calls me "Mr. President". That is as it should be, I suppose.

Lake and Hennepin. That MAC store across the way there is where my old Caribou Coffee store was. That was the first job I had in Minneapolis.

Inside the 17.

Back at the bus stop headin away from Hammer Haus once more.

Muddy Waters. I guess that's the crusty coffee house in this neighborhood.

Asylum stickers. Those have been there for months.

that's what I'm talkin about

I headed over to Justin's house today to meet the Milwaukee crew. They drove up in the blizzard, so I went as the representative of myself and Matt, seein as how Matt's sick abed and not entertaining this weekend. I ended up takin the 18 and gettin off eight or nine blocks from Justin's place. I enjoyed the walk.

Justin's place is the kinda urban living I like, with the wood floors and radiators. Hell, he's even gotta potatoe bin in his kitchen. He made some mushroom risoto and roasted asparagus and baked rolls for us. Matt stirred and put a little love into it just for me.

Justin and Concetta.

Concetta didn't sit still much. She's got a fair amount of energy, and she loves to visit.

Justin made tea for us. This was the plan B mango.

Here Concetta displays Jeb, whose face has really cleared up since meeting Concetta. He's dropped all that anarchist stuff and found his true purpose in followin that little man in the boat. And all I can say is, Jeb, you must be havin fun.

Matt Beyond Hypothermia. He and S. James were the leaven in the loaf, a calming influence and a comfort to all.

And there's S. James himself in the rocker in back, formerly of Legion of Doom. You may have seen their stickers if you've been to my chicken house at the farm. Yup, same guy. I reckon that was my brush with fame for the night. Of course, I sleep with one of the Gods of Rock every night, so who am I kiddin.

Nice pictures. They made me think about Buffalo, NY, and how glad I am to be somewhere else. Mass transit sucks in cold weather towns.

After dinner and a sufficient amount of time for Cetta to put her face on and get dolled up...and then pacin around a bit while she got dolled up and ready to go...and then hangin out with our coats on drinkin beer and waitin on Cetta to get dressed and ready...and then waitin on the bus for twenty minutes or so we made it to Hammer Haus where we were greeted by none other than Nick Hammer himself, creator of Nick Hammer's Thick Load. He hooked us all immediately up with cold PBRs and then escorted us all to the CC Lounge where he bought three pitchers before I left to walk home for the evening.

He can put his feet behind his head, btw. I really admire that.

Cetta again. She really has a great ass.

Nick and Scott were all over the Japanese thing. Nick taught English over there in some kinda one-week crash course and saw quite a bit of the country to boot. I'm a Hammer Fan.

Jeb and Matt. All these boys are so metro; lucky for them I was there to butch it up a bit.

Yeah, keep smilin Jeb.

Man, I really have stunning good looks.

And chicks dig me. She's only human, however.

yada yada temples yada yada mountains...

I really need to take Nick Hammer to the Casa de Campo at 3am after an evening at the bars

ain't no empy cot at the bunkhouse tonight, I'll give ya that.

Yeah, you want it too. Well tough titty Matt. I got miles to go before I chuff and snuggle for the night. I gotta man.
