Best birthday ever
I think I may just have the best boyfriend in the world. I'm sorry to disappoint those of you who were hoping to score him for your own.
Here's why:
I've never been a popular kid. I've accepted it as a part of who I am, but there are times it really gets me down. One of those times is traditionally my birthday. You see, birthdays are always my reminder of how little people care about me. This started in middle school, where my locker was never decorated, and has followed me through university, where (I kid you not) last year none of my housemates wanted to come out with me, and I ran into people that night while out with my two "real" friends who said they couldn't come for... whatever reason.
Plenty o' hurt.
Anyway, I guess that is partially why I've hated my birthday so much. I told Jer that I wanted nothing done this year, because every year when I anticipate something, nothing happens, and I end up in a bad mood. He remembered last year, and said he understood.
The crappy thing is this: He is in college. This is their reading week. Mine was last week. We wouldn't be seeing each other at all! You have to understand, we spend all of our time together, so being apart is really unusual, lonely, and kind of hard for us.
I had asked that he stay for at least a part of that weekend, but he had to go home (promised he'd be attending his sister's function). I understood, but it hurt, so on my birthday (the day I was to return here) I asked him how it was, and told him I hoped it was good since that's why I wasn't going to get to see him. Unfair, yes, but I was feeling down. (incidently, I apologized later, and it's all good).
He told me he couldn't let me feel bad any longer. He told me he was coming back for the night. It was enough to make me cry. But it gets better.
He had used the master key to our rooms in order to "break into" mine and decorate not just a locker, but my entire room with streamers and banners and balloons. That wasn't all, though. He also baked me a key-lime... er, perisian-lime? pie, which is one of my favorite deserts. He bought me a necklace with a type of pendant I began collecting. He told me that it was my night, and that we would do things however I wanted to do them.
He had contacted a few of my friends, of which about 6 or 7 showed up. It was amazing. Even two people that are total rival enemies, and a girl that had JUST broken up with her boyfriend came out.
I couldn't believe how kind he was, or how amazingly lucky I am to have him. Yay sappy happy stories.
