Let Freedom Ring!

Let Freedom Ring!
My Hero of the Week is going to the people of Lebanon who are getting fucking tired of being puppets to the Syrian dictator Assad. They have expelled their government and demand democracy. And they will get democracy! Why? Let's be honest. Bush will kick some serious Syrian ass if they don't get it.
However, I don't want to turn this into some post making Bush the hero--even though I think he is by far the ballsiest human being to come along since Churchill. No! All credit should go to the people of Lebanon.
What I love about this story is that the people of the Middle East are rapidly breaking their stereotype. How many times have we heard that they aren't ready for democracy--like somehow white people who live in Europe, Canada, or the United States are the only ones who deserve such a gift? Too many fucking times!
The people of Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon have made one thing perfectly clear. They want to be free! And I say good for them. For this, I'm awarding my worthless Hero of the Week award to all the ragheads who yearn to breathe free air. Welcome to the party, my dusky brothers

I think the Lebanese should be free and allowed to carry on having relationships with other women.

Nope, it's Antonio Banderas, I'm sure of it.

It is high time that we also thanked Bush for any good weather that may come our way, and pray to Him that He should not become wroth with us and send storms, plagues and locusts.

He's not my first born, but I'd be willing to say he is. Is it too late to get him on the list?

There was some story on Powerline a few weeks back, about the fertile blossoming of democracy in the middle east, and the guy made the comment: "George W. Bush isn't just satisfied with being the best president since Ronald Reagan, he's the best president since Lincoln!"
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

if I were gonna make a list of best presidents, Lincoln wouldn't make the top 40.

Jefferson Davis was a much better president than Churchill.

Davis was an interesting man, actually. But I guess you'd have to have somethin goin for ya to be elected president of anything.

Lincon's big mistake was not to learn the lessons of the Indian wars. He should never have left the Southerners alive.

No, his really big mistake was not knowing when to duck.
