I spent my last couple of paychecks getting caught up on some bills and only had a few bucks to last me till my next payday, a week from today. So last Tuesday and today I went to the local plasma center and let them harvest 880 mL each visit. $50 b/t the two visits. I hadn't done it since my kollege days 12+ years ago and back then it was only a few times. I plan on going back twice next week and each week thereafter until my finances improve for the better and the additional income isn't really needed.

Anyone else here care to comment on their experiences or thoughts concerning pimping out one's blood plasma?

That’s how I ate for a while. Being a whore would have paid better but when I gave plasma I got to keep what was left of my dignity and I got free cookies and juice....and to lay down somewhere other than my car.

I have scars on the inside of both my elbows from my plasma days. When we first got married both my wife and I went regularly to infuse some cash into our marriage.

I learned lots of neat words there like plasmapheresis and phlebotomist.
I don't know if the time you spend there has improved, but to my recollection I'd spend 3 or 4 hours there most times. Between getting the blood out, putting it through plasmapheresis and reinfusing the red blood cells with glucose, it would take a while.

Also I'd been under the impression that human plasma places were out of business and only manufactured plasma was used anymore. I guess not though.

I donate platelets these days. Heck, I get to watch a movie, cookies and juice, and the occasional tote bag. Takes about two hours, and they really seem to appreciate it.

i donate blood every 2 months, which is as often as they can legally take it.

i test negative for cytomegalovirus (a virus common, but harmless in most adults), which means they use my blood on children.

No, you sell plasma. The word 'donate' means donate. It doesn't matter whether it's blood or plasma.
I sold blood when I was in the Air Force. It kept gas in my motorcycle and nicotine in my lungs.
