Buttlogs

Ask and ye shall receive, just don't make a habit of it. Blogs have been added to the front page (yes we have a front page - http://www.asylumnation.com ). In fact, the main page has changed rather drastically. The news section is gone, at least as it was, and there is now a 'blogs' (official name pending) section.

You all have a blog (if you're registered) until we take it away. If you don't see your blog on the list it's because you havn't made any posts yet, many of you already have posts because past column submissions and user contributions have been imported into your blog. As with the forum, moderation will be light-handed, but the same rules apply - no kidddy pron or other illegal content, no spam, etc.

You can update your blog here: http://www.asylumnation.com/usercp/ (log in with your forum username/password). It's pretty straight-forward, i'm sure you're all smart enough to figure it out. If you can't, ask in this thread so we can all laugh at your incompetence. When posting, if you check the "allow comments" checkbox a thread will be created in the Asylum Suppository forum for comments.

You can also choose to submit the post to be posted on the front page. If you do this, the post will still go to your personal blog, but it will also be sent to a moderation queue and will be accepted (posted on the front page) or denied. If it's denied it won't be deleted, it will still remain in your blog.

So what can you submit to the front page? Well you can submit anything, but don't. Don't check "submit to front page" on every post you write just for the hell of it. Someone has to read the front page submissions before they're approved, and if you become a pain in the ass your submissions will end just up being denied automatically. We're not going to accept meaningless nonsense on the front page (with the exception of melon and feral automaton), like a note about who you had lunch with or what a bitch sally from biology is. I don't mean to disuade people from submitting content to the main page, we'd like to post something new every day, but make sure what you submit is worthwhile. If you write something interesting, thought provoking, a story, a review of a book or movie or anything, basically anything with more depth than an average forum post, submit it to the front page.

Note that you cannot delete a post older than 72 hours (3 days). You cannot edit a post older than 30 days. Like with the forum, the reason for this is to prevent disgruntled members from going in and deleting everything they ever posted. Also, once a post has been posted on the front page you can no longer modify or delete it. If, for whatever reason, you want to edit or delete a post and can't, contact an admin.

Feel free to submit suggestions, but for now i'm not going to make any major changes, i'm more interested in bugs. If, in a few months, people are using this regularly i'll consider enhancements.
