My favorite poet wrote a song called "Annabel Lee"



Annabel Lee

By Edgar Allan Poe

It was many and many a year ago
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling

A beautiful poem. I first read it about 8 months after losing my Anabel.

I was learning photo-etching when I read it, and with the help of my high school Arts & Crafts teacher I etched it onto a sheet of bronze, mounted that on a black walnut board, and gave it her parents on the first anniversary of her death.

I still see my Anabel in my dreams, from time to time.

I have read your story twice now, SS, and I wanted to take just a second to say thank you. I would be willing to bet that most of us have had an 'Anebel' at some point in our lives, and even though we don't lose them like you lost yours it still seems as though they find ways out of our lives as quickly as they arrived.

my thanks is for reminding me of my 'Anabel' and what she ment to me.
