My dad knows a guy who was in the same situation. Eventually he took a week off of work and then never resumed picking the co-worker up.

That's a hard one,dude. I bend over backwards for my co workers everyday.
But they appreciate it. And I know that.
But this guy like needs your hand. He's like lost without your help.
And gas is going up and up.
Maybe he needs to get a car and you guys can alternate weeks. And when he feels inconvenienced,that's when you can pull out of carpooling.
But on the bright side,That car pool lane on I25 RULES!
You pass hundreds of cars till you hit 84th ave exit.
And hundreds of cars going south.

I had a similar situation at one time. Solving it was easy. I told him I would no longer pick him up after the 3rd time he made us late. Also told him to find his own way home that day.
