I don't know the answer to your question, TT, nor do I care much. See, as a teenager and into my 20's, I seldom felt cold. I attended class many times in the dead of winter in cut-offs, hurache sandals, and a t-shirt.. With snow on the ground outside. No big deal, I wasn't cold.

If I was going to be in a cold environment for a period longer than a half hour or so, I dressed for it. Short period? No need.

Were you as proficient with a hurache sandal as you so clearly are with a slip-on loafer?

I would usually rather be too cold than too hot. Bundling up, unless it's REALLY cold, almost always makes me too hot.
If also helps to have a nice, thick, insulative layer of blubber. I don't get cold easily.

I've noticed this phenomenon as well TT. I cringe every time I go to pick up my son from school and even on the days I've confiscated my mother's huge, puffy, ankle length down coat (and I'm still shivering) I see little circles of the "older boys" with one arm holding on their coats, the other arm covered by a t-shirt, holding their backpack. Ack. And, if you actually ask them, "Aren't you cold? Do you want me to hold your bag, so you can pull your coat on?" You get a "Oh, I'm fine!" (teeth chattering) "Totally fine!"

Girls are far from immune. You can see them in croydon of a saturday night walking around in thigh high skirts while the temperatures are below freezing. This isn't limited to nightlife either, you'll see them doing it any old time.

Fashionable? Yes, warm? No.

Stephanie does this. -12f windchill and she's wearing a hoodie and jeans. Her explanation: Her coat won't fit in her locker and she's only outside for a total of 20 minutes.

It's true. I drive her to school and drop her off in front of the building. Her bus driver has the bus all warmed up for the kids and Steph only has to walk a block from the bus stop to the front door.

I gave up on the coat thing.

Surprisingly, after living in Minnesota for four years I still get chilly outside during 50 degree days here at the farm. However, I remember takin smoke breaks outside up there when it was in the 20s and wearin short sleeves and thinkin nothin of it.

I never get bundles up for a cigarette break. "Aren't you freezing?"
It's just 5 minutes, I can handle it.
