the spin is amusing on both sides

What's most amusing is Howards current stream of new "policies", which are a sun readers dream.

It seems that their election strategy is to compile a list of every politically based headline from the Sun last year, and address them one by one with as much depth and substance as the original article. It's fucking cheap beyond words, and there's nothing of any value underneath it.

from giving matrons more power, to having the sun write it's strategy on imigration, it's cheap, dumbed down and insubstancial. They can't do any better than "Labour", so theyve gone down a really nauseating route.

"fed up with Straight Bananas?" "Vote for us and will let the curved ones live again!"

He's doing it becase it's worked so well for Blair (and, particularly, Blunkett, when he still had a job). It's an intellectually bankrupt way to proceed and I'm not sure, in any case, that it will work.

hmmm interesting, no where but here have I seen such an assertion. Besides immigration Sonja (which has been an issue in all papers anyway) which policies are you referring to?

incidentally smug, the Guardian and Independent are now saying that a Tory win is not beyond the realm of possibility.

I saw him interviewed on TV discussing MRSA. His answer to the problem being to put matrons back in charge of key ward decision making. He said that theyd have the final say over "management" (using the term without any definition). Cue mind visual of Hattie Jacques sorting out the management bigwigs to restore the NHS back to the days of old ...

There is a lot to be said for the return of matron authority in hospital wards, actually, although he should probably admit that it was his party that overloaded the NHS with non-medical 'managers' in the first place.

I'll almost certainly be voting tory, not that it will matter much in my part of Brent.
