A Gift ........?

Ok, a very good friend gives you a new comforter for your new king-sized bed....it's plaid, it's lavender, it won't in any way go with anything you own....

What do you do?
Are you honest with your friend and tell him/her, asking if you could please go and exchange it for another color?

(Remember, this is either your best friend, or very close to it.....)

or, do you just suck-it-up, smile brightly, give them big hugs and thanx, then, when they go home, put it up in the top of the closet?

I wouldn't ask for another comforter. I would probably go to the mall and get some new sheets ans pillow cases to match.
Your friend may be the type that would want you to tell them. your call I guess.

If I was the giver, I would hope you would say something so you could pick out something you would use as I would hate to think I gave someone something like that and it wound up in a closet for 6 years and was then taken on a camping trip where a bear (could have been a badger) mauled it and then, since it was all ripped up, it was put on the floor of the garage to soak up the oil that was leaking out of the oilpan which hit a rock coming back from the camping trip and was found by me which totally bummed me out because I paid a lot of money for a fucking oil rag.

But then I'm funny that way.

i'd keep it but not use it. people if you give something you have to expect to get it wrong sometimes. fuck it. if they are gonna get all pissed off because you didn't use thier present then just point out that they have probably got unused gifts in the past, everyone does, i have loads of unused gifts cos i am really hard to buy for,

Comfortors, whether they go with your decor or not, are always a good thing. Especially if they're of good quality and do a good job of keeping you warm.

You never know when the furnace might go kaput and you can't get it fixed until the next day or later.

Em I think you should just explain to your friend that it just doesnt go with your color scheme. Ask where she/he go it and return it yourself. There is no reason to waste something that this person spent their money on.
