Post november sadness

the weeks before christmas, the time when the days are shorter than the nights. reading kittens thoughts , on the main page aswell as in here made me realise how much i am thinking about the past myself these days. how much i dont see the future as bright as i used to.
is just me , or do problems weigh much more these days ?
i feel so stupid thinking about the last summer instead of the next one.

You're not alone. . . many people feel that way in November. I know I do. November is a bad month for relationships, too. I don't know why, but my friends I know (and myself) have had them broken up in various Novembers.

Also, there's always GnR's "November Rain". . .

I think everything gets so hectic and overwhelming after Halloween. As soon as its over bam its Thanksgiving and then right after you recover from that bam its x-mas. You hardly get a chance to take a breather before NewYears.
I agree late fall and winter get me thinking about lots of things.

shit, I love november. when it's cold and bleak I can really get into my own, rather than having to deal with sunny weather and sunny folks. most people in this fucked up society are only 'real' when they're down. I'd so much rather deal with real people than fake smiles.

my depression starts as soon as i hear the word september. i guess its actually normal, and theres a word for it but dont remember what it is, but many many people get really depressed during the winter.

i guess its a combination of many things. for me, when i go to work in the morning its dark outside, and when i leave work its dark outside. its cold and dreary, all of my favorite activities are not an option such as fishing, waterskiing, and anything that has to do with open water. Halloween just reminds me of how much i loved it as a kid, and how much being an adult sucks. Thanksgiving just makes me think about how my grandma isnt here to cook Thanksgiving dinner anymore like she did for so many years. Christmas is a burdon now, not like when i was young and anticipated it year round. The excitement is gone and i just dwell on Christmass past. New years is just another exuse to get fucked up and regret it the next day. To top it off my birthday is in January, and every birthday after 21 is more depressing than the last. Top it off with a couple months of sub-zero weather.

GNR-November Rain: deinately a top 20 song, im gonna go download it now because of this thread...

"November Rain" was a good song, but it's not Top 20 material. Maybe Top 100 Songs of the Decade material.

People seem to decline in happiness during the winter, so therefore I do as well. And I have reasons to be unhappy.

I actually like winter. I like crisp cool air, I like freshly fallen snow, I like cocoa, I like fireplaces. It's usually not until February that I get sick of the gray skies and slush.

Unhappy

I maintain the same constant level of miserableness (is that a word or have I just made it up?) all year round. My mood isn't affected by the weather!

I'm sorry to have encouraged any type of sadness Iglo. That certainly wasn't my intention with either piece I wrote. I actually thought they were more likely to make someone smile then feel depressed. But I guess everyone has a different view.

Quite a few years ago I started feeling depressed around the holidays b/c I let certain events control my outlook on life. I admit to wallowing in that for a few years before deciding it wasn't for me. *smiles* Now if I start to feel sad I find ways to cheer myself up. I'll make a list of 5 things I'm happy for (yes, I really do even though it sounds stupid!) or I'll do things that bring happiness to other people. Making others happy always cheers me up. And with it being the holiday season we certainly aren't short of those that are less fortunate then ourselves. So, if you are feeling down, bring joy to someone else's life....the smiles spread. You'll be happy again in no time.

I find myself sounding more and more like a big dork everytime I post in here. I promise I do have real naughty fun and all of that. I'm not as sweet as I've seemed to appear lately. *giggles*

I love winter, as soon as it starts getting colder, i feel better, i dont enjoy summer much , except for the scantily clad young women

I'd rather it was winter all the time

and kitten - you are a big dork, but everyone still loves you
