God is not dead!!!!
In fact, I'm not so sure that God has even been born yet.
Let me explain. While doing research for a story, I discovered that Jesus was perfect, chronologically. The basis to the story was that aliens from the future saw that humanity was about to destroy themselves so they chose one of their own and made him look human. They intended to send this fella back in time so that he would stop the humans from hating each other.
As they researched history for the best time to intervien, so did I. The Roman empire influenced a great deal in it's time and was a stratgeic point in world history. Though their power would eventually die and fade completely, their influence never would. After the Roman empire there was much bickering wars ans quabbling among many little countries instead of one empire. This would be too late. Before the Roman Empire, the countries and empires lasted 20 years at the most, providing no time for one culture to begin the peace and being too early. This proved to be the best time frame to intervien.
Now, the Romans themselves were an aggressive, male dominated society. Therefore whoever would spread the word of unity must be male and passive. And there was another society living among the Romans that were more peaceful, but were downtrodden throughout history. Why not kill two birds with one stone and make this peaceful messager the leader of these downtrodden people?
So now you have Jewish male during the Roman empire who wanted to bring peace and unity to people everywhere. In my story he succeeds and unites the Earth, but humans with their urge to destroy, kill all other civilizations. In reality, Jesus failed, with all but a few. Too many misinterpretations, things done in his name, and just plain egos getting in the way.
