US visa application - DENIED

quote:
Dear Visa Applicant;.
We are sorry to inform you that at this time it has been determined that you are ineligible for a
nonimmigrant visa under -Section 214(b)of the United States immigration and Nationality Act....

This section of US law is by far the most common grounds for denying visa applications. It
states that in order to qualify for a tourist, business, or student visa, you must satisfy the interviewing consular officer that you intend to return to Israel after your stay in the United
States. Based on the information yqu presented at today's interview, the consular officer was not
satisfied that your social and or economic conditions in Israel constitute compelling ties to bring
you back after a temporary visit. It was for this reason that your application was denied.

Please note that this is not a permanent ineligibility. You may apply for a nonimmigrant visa at a later time if you can provide compelling new evidence of your ties to Israel. Unless you failed to
present informatIon at the time of this interview that might have satisfied the interviewing officer
of your intention to return,we reconimend that you not apply for a visa for at least six months, and then only if your current economic and/or social situation has changed sufficiently to
improve your chances of visa issuance.

Sincerely,
Consular.Officer.
Nonimmigrant Visa Section
American Embassy Tel Aviv

i had tentative plans to come to the U.S in september, but i was worried about the stingy visa policy.

today my fears have been confirmed, so i guess its time to make some new plans. whats frustrating about this is that i was really focused on making this trip - it was the basis for everything i did, the thing for which i saved my money.

i suppose this is a sign, that it wasnt meant to be. maybe when im older.

And maybe next time don't wear that American flag bandana at the interview?

Seriously though, melon, that is a major drag.

We do. I'm thinking maybe melon was wearing his sombrero and they got suspicious when he tried to come in legally.

We like the Israelis - in Israel. Mexicans in Mexico - Germans in Germany, etc. Major exception - we don't like the French at all.

Just out of curiosity, was it indeed your intent to not return to Israel?

Dude, that sucks. I'd like to hear more about this. Is the consular truly concerned about your intent to go back to Israel, or to insure you have intentions of leaving the US?

You would likely have a better chance of getting a visa for Canada, and then sneaking across the border.

i was planning on leaving israel permanently, but it wasnt my intent to stay in the US. i was hoping to start out there and then move on.

but more importantly, i wasnt planning on working illegally, which is what they are concerned about.

he said they were concerned about people in my situation (recently released from the army, low paying job) working illegally.
it happens alot, and people who manage to slip through the cracks in the system do work in the united states. so im just paying the price for their crimes.

Getting into canada illegally is like trying to get into a six year old, dry.

What I'd like to know is what frame of reference T_T's mind runs on. C_R did not specify a six year old what. What exactly were you referring to, chav arsehole?

Plan your holiday like this: Greece, Spain, France, UK, Australia, USA.
Greek officials are easy to bribe, you could maybe pick up a US visa there. If not, try Spain, etc.

Problem is, slight, it doesn't matter what country he is in. To get a US visa he still has to deal with the US embassy. No 3rd party nation is empowered to issue visas to the US.

^^ yea, but it was the embassy in Tel Aviv that knocked him back. The Embassy in Athens would be a little more relaxed, I would think.

Of course, if you make it as far as Sydney, you wont want to stay in the US anyway. =)
