10 Foods that make America Great

According to some survey/website/anonymous resource they are:

New England Clam Chowder
New York Pastrami
Pennsylvania Shoofly Pie
Virginia Smithfield Ham
Louisiana Po-boys
Texan Fajitas
Chicago Hot Dogs
New Mexico Chilli Verde
San Francisco sourdough
Olympia oysters

I'd have thought that sacks of potato chips and the availiability of elastic top jeans is what makes america so great, but whats your favourite regional food?

Ick, Philly cheese steak.

Best burgers are here, and steaks are really pretty good. Ribbon cane syrupe is excellent, incidentally (that JEB mentioned). Guess I'm mostly into European food, though.

Will try Tilamook cheddar, then. Most of the cheese I've eaten in the US has been shit (and the cheddars generally weak-tasting, have to go the extra mature stuff to get any flavour). I do miss a decent cheddar.

I guess the Runza is somewhat regional. I don't really care for them, though.

Lots of good Czech food in the area because of Wilber, Nebraska (go Czech Days).

Have you tried Cabot extra-sharp, Smug? It is quite good.

I was trying to think or regionally great foods but can only come up with .99 cent shrimp cocktails on the Strip in Vegas. And they're just not that good.
