I applaud your efforts to move onward and upward. Remember that one definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting different results. Avoid the pitfalls and the "same old groove" at all costs.
Good luck Mugtoe.

See you back in Texas next year, then.

I doubt that. There's nothing for me in TX anymore. I may come down to visit. If I leave MN, it will be to move somewhere else, like Madison or SF or some place like that.

I didn't come back to Texas because I missed it so much. I came back to Texas because I had given Sigmo my apartment and had no other place to go. I was kinda tore up at the time. I don't know that I'll be a startling success up north by any means, but I'll have what I haven't had in the last five or six years, and that's a place of my own and a life unencumbered by all the attachments I've carried for so long.

Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile....
Good luck buddy, I know this will be a good time of the year up there.
Johnny, my sponsor is up there right now working as a replacement on the Northwest mechanics strike. He asks about you all the time and would love to visit with you. If he's still there when you return I'll give you his number and maybe ya'll could chat or meet for lunch.

I'll be there for good on the 3rd of September. The next day is my birthday, so it likely won't be the best day to sit down and break bread with John. Any time after that is fine.

The best thing I can do for my Dad, and for myself, is to get the hell outta his hair at this point. He does't need a caretaker, and he damn sure doesn't need a dependent. And I'm spinnin my wheels down here. There's nothing in Texas for me, because I've done it to death down here. What remains for me in this place is an easy potential for prison or goin out in a ball of flames and twisted metal at some point. This ain't really home. I'm glad I came down in FEbruary, if for no other reason than to realize that once and for all. And yeah, I reserve the right to change my mind in two years if I feel like it. I'm a fickle bitch, but nobody else has to live in my head if they don't wanna.

I'm swilling coffee and getting ready to load the truck for the drive north tomorrow, and I can hear the thunder outside. Joy. I reckon I could get all New Agey and think of it as a baptism on some rebirthing, but I'll write it off as Texas weather and leave it at that. It'll change in a few minutes anyway. I'll pull outta here at four or five tomorrow morning and hopefully make Des Moines or Mason City by evening and then pull into the Twin Cities early Tuesday and unload my stuff at the new place. Then I interview with a committee of three at a college downtown for a support staff job on Wednesday afternoon. Wish me luck. Golden Circles'n all that. I'll be back in Texas on Thursday afternoon and catching a northbound flight on Friday just in time for Labor Day weekend at the Minnesota State Fair and my birthday.

Isn't your dad driving with you (at least so he can do the driving in MN)?
