Lu,

Just some tips for being on your feet all day:
1.) Rotate your shoes, even a couple times per day until your feet get used to it.
2.) If there's 'down time' or a few moments between drinks, elevate one foot.
3.) Does the bar have mats down behind bar for you?
4.) Kick the customers out at close so you don't have to be there two hours late doing side work.

Thanks for the suggestions, but don't get the wrong idea, I've been in the service industry for 3+ years (my feet are definitely "used to it", or as much as they can be after standing for 14 hours, four days in a row), but I work for Brinker, and I'm not allowed to kick out customers or sit down. I'm the senior most trainer at work, the senior most expo, and now I'm a bartender. I rock at waiting tables, and am not ashamed to brag

Nor should you be. Serving the public is the hardest job ever. I just ended one of those 15 hour days you were talking about and the dogs are definitely barking. Tomorrow is inventory and another 14 or 15 hours. Yahoo.

congrats on the training gig. That means you are doing it right, or at least better than the rest.

Wtf does "rotate your shoes" mean? Switching out one pair for another and back again? Or switching your left shoe with your right one? Or turning your shoes around?

It means to NOT wear the same pair of shoes everyday to work. Women are less likely to have this problem as they generally have lots of shoes. A good majority of men own only a few pair and have a tendancy to label one pair as "work shoes."

Brinker is the real deal Lu.....I have known many people that worked for them and were treated quite right. I did some service calls over at that Brinker office on Hillcrest...cool place

They run a tight ship.
