Even I have to say the situation is fucked up and typically I have zero compassion for people I don't know. Since he can answer yes and now questions through blinking did anybody bother to ask what he wanted? Starving a person is a shitty way of killing them. I'd prefer an overdose on valium or heroin or something. Something quick and painless, going hungry for a few hours alone sucks, hungry/thirsty until you die would be horrible.
