Hrm. It's amazing how a little time can dull the memories. Apparently, I was interested in her as more than a friend... I was looking through some old shit today, and came across this excerpt from something I wrote about this subject a few years ago.
quote:
Moving On... During the time my friend was going out with Jess, I got to go on a "pseudodate" with my friend Chris (short for Christine). A short description of her, since I lack pictures, is simply that if I could choose to have a relationship with absolutely any girl I know, she would easily be at the top of the list. Not just for her appearance, which is quite nice in itself, but also for her personality and the fact that I have absolutely no problem talking with her and feel totally at ease around her. During our friendly-date we went to see a movie, and then went back to her apartment for a drink and ended up watching a couple more movies on TV. Then I went home. There very well may have been something there, or there may not have been. With Chris, it's very difficult to tell, and since I had trouble seeing Jess's VERY obvious hints for over a year, well... Who knows?
Anyway, that was that until shortly before I returned to school, my friend SOMEHOW managed to talk me into getting together with him and Jess to shoot pool as a sort of farewell party for me. Considering how awkward this was looking, I decided to see if Chris would agree to accompany me to this. I ended up having to beg her to do it, but she agreed when I explained the circumstances. So, we went to play pool, and with her there it felt much less awkward, plus it was nice to see the flash of jealousy on Jess's face when I showed up with Chris and payed almost no attention to Jess the whole night. After we left the bar, Chris and I ended up going to a pancake house (always open!) for a late-night snack before going our separate ways. When we said goodnight, there is a possibility that she may have been expecting a kiss, but I didn't notice until she was gone and I was driving home, so I missed out on that opportunity. More's the pity.
I always have found it interesting to go back and read things I wrote years ago. It's a great opportunity to gain some perspective on how much or how little I've changed over the years.
