Happy Thanks Giving: What’s cooking?

This Thanks giving I am cooking.
And although I can’t claim to be a domestic goddess, I’ve managed somehow.
These are my menu for this Thanks Giving… and wish me luck.

Turkey (I season it with a mixture of butter, crushed garlic, and lemon juice and put a spring of rosemary and garlic cloves inside of the carcass)
Ham glazed with honey
Stuffing with Italian sausage, black olive, Parmesan cheese and tons of other goodies. (I don’t stuff it in the bird; I cooked it separately)
Gravy with giblet
Candied Yam topped with marshmallows (my daughter’s favorite)
Sauerkrauts with Polish sausage
Green beans steamed and buttered
Cranberry sauce (I’m gonna buy it rather than make my own)
Dinner rolls (A firm believer of Pepperidge Farm’s "Heat and Serve")
Pies (pumpkins and apple… No baking for me; I order them thru my daughter’s school fund-raising and they are soooo good!!)

Happy Thanks Giving to you all...

My mom makes her turkey by injecting her fluids.....no.
..by injecting some stuff she makes up before the bird goes in the oven. It has like soy sauce and some sweet stuff. Anyway, when the bird comes out,it's beyond moist.
My wife make it different, though. She bathes her bird with lots and lots of butter. I bought two 20 pond birds this year and a spiral ham. She also makes sweet potatoes, pumkin pie, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy,corn....pretty much like meena. There's alot of food every year.

Slappy, that actually is a pretty simple thanksgiving dinner LF described. Last time I got together with family for thanksgiving there were 38 people there.

Two approximately 30 lb turkeys, two 20 lb hams. Green beans cooked with bacon and minced onions, green bean casserole with mushrooms, sweet corn (whole kernel and creamed) mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet potato casserole with marshmallow topping, two kinds of cranberry sauce, devilled eggs, cheese and veggie platter (5 kinds of thin sliced cheese, cauliflower and broccoli florets, baby carrots, celery sticks, black olives and pimento stuffed green olives, cherry tomatos), carrot slices cooked in butter and honey, three kinds of homemade bread plus dinner rolls and baking powder biscuits, turkey gravy, ham gravy, dressing made from bread, spices, and turkey giblets, baked potatoes, cream cheese/lime jello salad with walnuts, green grapes, and pineapple in it; jello fruit molds (peach, mandarin orange, and blueberry). I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things here.

Desserts: rhubarb pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie, mince pie, cherry pie, choc pudding with whipped cream, blackberry buckle with homemade ice cream, tapioca pudding with apple jelly, German chocolate 3 layer cake with pecan and toasted coconut icing.

Drinks: coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, spiced hot cider, iced tea, milk, eggnog, rum punch, cold cider, various liquers..

Everybody takes home leftovers.

I'll be slow roasting Meena over an open fire in the backyard.

Nothing like yellow-skinned long pig.

Oops, I was referring to Meena's post about a bird a ham and lots of other gunk and stodge.

Having said that, there is a whole lotta food gonna be on LF's table too.

At Christmas we normally have about 8 - 10 people around the table and have one bird, tatties, veg, stuffing etc for main course, soup or summats for starters, then there's cheese n biscuits n fruit, christmas pudding, christmas cake... basically, it's several courses, prob 4 or 5, over the course of several hours.

You've got to have home-made bread sauce at Christmas. If that's not the law, it should be.

I was going to make our Thanksgiving dinner, but my grandmother invited all of us(my family, my aunt's family, etc) to her house for Thanksgiving today.
So, instead, I'll just be bringing homemade cornbread sage stuffing with apples, walnuts, and sausage to her house next week.
I'll also be making some homemade dark chocolate truffles rolled in either dark cocoa powder or chopped pecans.
Also told her I'd arrive early to help her make the turkey, mashed potatoes, bread, and vegetables.
Other members of my family are bringing pies, cobblers, and whatever else. I think there will be about 15-20 of us in all.

Oh, right. I'm going to Charlotte for Thanksgiving with my brother and Morgana (and my mom's coming down too). So I'm having whatever they decide to serve me.

On a completely unrelated note, I remember once my dad took me to eat Thanksgiving dinner at his friend's house. She's an excellent cook, but it just so happened that everything she chose to cook was something I simply don't eat. I felt really guilty.

I can't think that there's anything that I wouldn't eat if I was a guest somewhere and they cooked it. Bad show, old stick.

Why are you linking some mormon site with information about some family?

Breadcrumbs and milk and cream, onion, nutmeg, cloves.

(Delia Smith is the English version of Martha Stewart and even more irritating, believe me. Although she is a major shareholder in a football club).
