Hi Guys,

The point of this thread is to point you to a year long charity event I have been participating in for the last 10 1/2 months.

The goal was/is to raise $100,000(usd) for a Northwest USA charity that helps poor and homeless families get back on their feet, with food donations and monetary help for bills, clothes etc.

They helped my family four years ago get back on our feet, in the aftermath of the .dot crash. Now I'm in a good position to give back, so I decided to grow my hair and beard for a full year starting December 31st 2004 midnight, and going untrimmed until December 31st 2005 midnight.

I've documented the growth weekly (fridays) on the web site, and have had over 1 million hits, but only two small donations, now this may have been because I did not have a paypal button to accept donations and was only accepting mailed in donations. I've added a button for paypal, redesigned and making a final year-end push to get the donations to a respectable level in order to present the charity with something more substantial than a hundred bucks.

I hope some of you will donate, and some others will spread the word on their sites and Blogs, because I really think this charity is worthwhile, otherwise I wouldn't have grown this monstrosity on my face for 10 1/2 months.

The best charity in the world is handing your money / clothes / gifts to the person who needs it. That way there is no cut for the middle man.

Thanks Slappy, I appreciate the verbal support. I actually spoke with Phil Olsen who is the team captain for the American Beard Team, and he sent me photos of this years comp in Berlin. Jack Passion took third place, full beard natural, and Toot Joslin took first place, sideburns. So the American team had a pretty good showing this year.
