Nike crash and burn?

Apparently, a nike corporate jet is circling an oregon airport, burning off fuel in preperation of an impending crash landing.

Landing gear troubles or something.

It is live on cnn ATM.

They milk these stories endlessly. 'Just do it,' I say.

Well, the last time this situation arose in the PDX control zone, the circling aircraft (a loaded L-1011, I think) flamed out short of the airport on final. The pilot put it down in alley between two rows of backyards and clipped both wings off against large fir trees. At night, in a rainstorm. No fatalities in that one, no damage to any structure on the ground.

A corporate jet has a much smaller fuselage, and this time it has broad daylight. Just another routine emergency.

GM previously announced elimination of 25,000 jobs. Wall Street seemed to notice that the elimination would be over several years and would be close to the normal attrition rate over that period anyways.

Fast forward to today - Add 5000 more jobs, announce it as 30,000 and the stock jumps.

They did announce that the first assembly plant to be closed is the SUV production facility in Oklahoma City, OK. Shreveport has the H2 production line, plus medium duty trucks. The truck lines continue business as usual; the H2 line is not replacing personnel losses, line speed is to be halved over the next yr. GM dealers have one hell of a lot of H2's on their lots.

Tattooing 'Cunt' on your forehead would be much easier on the wallet.
