Thanks for the information. There are a number of very interesting developments going on in prosthetics today. In the 80's the Manchester hand looked very promising, but ran up against constraints of material weight/strength, and density of power storage technology.
With Lipo batteries, carbon/carbon materials, new developments in DC motor technology and miniaturization of electronics for controller interfaces, the day probably isn't far off when replacing a hand with its functional equivalent will be possible. Cost will remain a major factor, however.
