Criminal activity

I love waking up to police tape all across the front of my house & driveway. About 4:10 AM I woke up from a dream after hearing a series of loud noises. I thought it was just something in my dream, so I used the loo & went back to bed. Now at 5 AM, I wake up to the above, and sheriffs walking up & down the streets. They told me an "incident" happened. The local TV station in Seattle ( http://www.king5.com/n/ ) only says in breaking news that officers shot a man up at the corner of my block. More possibly as it develops.

You should move to Seattle. Your 'breaking news' there will be 'This just in: Triple raspberry mocha voted '"best new fruit-flavoured coffee of the first quarter of 2006": critics divided'.

I'll pass on that Smug. Necro ain't my bag.

No, I don't live in a ghetto. Close, but not quite.

The body is a cousin of a family across the street from me. The report now is that the man had some sort of sleep disorder & the altercation involved a machete. No wonder they dropped him.

Speaking of dead bodies, some dude was found in Lake Coeur d'Alene. If you found a dead body would you 1. Call the athouritys 2.Go through the guys wallet for money before calling or 3.Take the wallet and forget you ever saw the body.

#3 is my choice.

So, when the forensic team discover your foot prints and finger prints, you become part of the crime and thus implicated.

You'd have to take the body with you and dismember it, bit by bit to avoid discovery.

Is it worth the aggravation for a few measly bucks?

but say if they were used and they had a hole where the big toe is?

Are you that much of a skin-flint you'd steal a dead mans shoes?

Man, you're a Philistine.

How is it any different than taking his wallet? (I would take that too of course, but still.)

It's very different. How you could put your feet into another mans stinky shoes (especially a dead mans) is beyond me. Feet can be very nasty if they are not cared for properly. Athletes foot? Warts? Toe jam?

You disgust me.

To get serious for a second here, this reminds me of when I used to work retail. We had an ad where the theme was "Trade and Save". We had a rewards card, see, and the idea was that people would trade points off their card for like ten bucks off. Well, this backwoods Grizzly Adams-looking motherfucker came up with some shoes he wanted to buy and then also plopped a pair of smelly disgusting old sneakers on the counter. He was all smiles as I asked him what the hell, and said "Trade and save jest like yous said in the flyer!!"

What he thought we would want with his dirty old sneakers I'll never understand.

*crickets*

Yeah see, my serious posts don't get nearly the same attention as my non-serious ones. This is why I'm rarely serious. Just so you guys know the reason if it ever comes up.

Bremerton police kill machete-wielding man

03:48 PM PDT on Tuesday, May 16, 2006
By CHRIS DANIELS / KING 5 News and Wire Reports

BREMERTON, Wash. - Kitsap County's sheriff said two deputies were forced to shoot when a 26-year-old man dashed toward them with a machete early Tuesday morning in Bremerton, killing the man.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. on the 3700 block of E Street in the Navy Yard City neighborhood, just west of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyards. Family members and friends of the shooting victim were still wondering what happened.

“There were four shots fired at point blank range - no ‘Freeze, I'm gonna shoot.’ Nothing like that," said neighbor Judy Sahuer.
But police said the shooting was a case of self defense. Police say someone called 911 to say help was needed at the home. According to Kitsap County Sheriff Steve Boyer, when the two deputies arrived, the man approached them with a machete.

“He ran close to 50 feet towards the deputies,” said Boyer. “And as I understand it, the deputies ordered him to drop the machete. He came forward, failed to comply, and they had to use lethal force."

Boyer wouldn’t say how many shots were fired, but shell casings littered the ground of the crime scene. Police also say they still don’t know what prompted the 911 call or whether drugs or alcohol played a part in the death.

The 26-year-old man had a criminal history that included marijuana possession and a protection order. Family members of the shooting victim said he may have suffered from some type of sleeping disorder.

Sheriff's investigators said the Navy Yard City neighborhood has a high crime rate. Deputies have reportedly been called in the past to the house where the shooting happened.

The two deputies involved, four- and six-year veterans of the department, were placed on administrative leave as normal procedure. Detectives with Washington State Patrol were handling the investigation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know the family involved. I did not know the man shot. I walked up the street today after work on the way to a nearby store, and saw the cleaned-up stain on the ground.

The KING 5 website has video. In it you can see the blue picket fence of mine in the background.

OK< move along folks, there's nothing more to see here.
