how many ladies here take drugs to stop their rags? do you feel any different? ive read that its only recently in the past 200 or so years that women have been having regular monthly cycles because of better nutrition and such. before that, it was only when their bodies reached a critical state where the uterus needed a good flush to prevent toxic shock or something that they ragged. perhaps its a survival thing where a good heavy flow attracted the predators to a meal. maybe thats why ragheads send their women into the desert wilderness when they are ragging is because they dont need hyenas in the camp.

hmmm...

anyhow...the question at hand is 'this cant be healthy, can it?'

The only problem with continual use of the pill and such is that eventually you'll go sterile. That and the possible increased risk of cancer.

seems like your body might get used to the changes in hormone levels, and adjust to the point of being able to get pregnant in spite of the thing, too.

There are plenty of women who use the pill with no problems whatsoever. In fact, the pill helps many regulate irregular periods and hormone cycles, as well as eliminate cramping and excessive heavy flow days. I am one of them. I have used the pill on and off for 20 years and am far more comfortable on it than off. Before the pill, I had 7 - 9 days of linebackers jumping up and down on my lower abdomen and enough blood to fill the Red Sea.

So yeah, anecdotal evidence is shit. As for skipping your period on the pill, I know nurses who do it occasionally, for convenience, and once had a practitioner tell me how to do it so I could go on vacation. It still seems like bad practice on a regular basis.

My impression is that birth control pills *prevent* ovulation, so that no egg os released to be reabsorbed. The progesterone in the pill prevents the surge of FSH and LH, which normally causes ovulation.

One of the first signs of labor is the expulsion of the mucus plug which blocks the cervix during gestation. It's also known as "bloody show".
Just thought you might like to know.

Depo Provera (the shot) usally stops periods over time, but when I was on it eventaully it cause me to have a very light four month period and I stoped using depo.

I would never do this -- as one of my old doctors said, "What do you *think* happens when you don't let your body do what it wants to do?"

I don't even take the pill, much less try to prevent menstruation.
