Today I will attempt to eat fish and chips for the first time since childhood. We'll see how it goes. I do like fish and I love fries, so there should be no reason for my abstinence all these years....except, when I was young my parents were in the habit of using the term "fish and chips" as an euphemism for sex, and they continued doing this long after we caught on to what the were referring to. So I've had this weird association thing between fish and chips and my parents having sex most of my life now. Gross, I know.

Fries aren't the same as chips.

Chips are good. Fries are OK at best.

i was brought up on chips. british chips: the big, fat, fatty ones.
these days i've retrained my body (and mind) with rice and tofu and yoga.
still, about 3-4 times a year i am seduced by a chip-shop display. usually it's the word "traditional" or "nutritious".
i buy a portion, eat about a quarter of them before my stomach starts heaving and then i dump the rest.

hey highstreet, maybe you could make loadsa money selling hypnotic reimprinting tapes, help people give up their unwanted habits.

There you will find the best fish and chip shop in the world. Fresh fish and the oil to fry the chips is changed twice daily.

chips and fries really are the same, unless we're talking fast food restaurants in which case you know what to expect. fish and chips really aren't anything special, neither are bangers and mash.
