I'm thinking about selling one of my guitars, and I have no idea of even the general range I should be asking for it.

I *believe* that it's a year 1999, Mexican made .
Serial number goes MN93*****
It's a cream coloured body w/ white plate. looks a lot like this, but the neck on mine is slightly darker wood:

If it's absolutely necessary I'll take pics of the guitar. At the moment, the baby's sleeping... so I don't want to knock things around and such.
It's in excellent condition, very few scratches.. the ones that are there are extremely light. You can only see them if you look really hard.
It would come with its Fender hard shell case, also in excellent condition. No stickers or scuffs that I can see. Also has the key, original booklets, all parts, the plug-in thingie for an amp, and some extra strings in the hideaway part of the case.

I've never taken lessons and don't know the names for anything on there. So, if you need more info, ask; but be specific about what you're talking about, please.

the people at totalfark said I'd get around $300 for it, maybe more because of the case.

Mexican strat's can be very average guitars that may look fantastic but have little to offer in the way of tonal quality, setup, and overall workmanship.

This is not to say that there are not some excellent Mexican made Stratocasters floating around, they are however the exception and usually not the rule. Some of the older Japanese and Korean made Strats were made much better, and of course all of the USA made Strats are the most sought after and have the very best resale value.

Good Used Mexican Strat with Hard shell Case $225 - $350

Check out eBay and Craigslist to get a good idea of current prices.

the guitar is in the way back of my closet, and requires me to move computers and stuff out of the way. It would probably make quite a bit of noise. no matter now. I've placed an ad for it.

thanks for the craigslist idea, lanin. If it doesn't sell there, I'll try the local paper. Last resort is ebay.

if this is the 'how much is this guitar worth' thread, how about a 1967 Gibson SG Jr with hard case in excellent condition? cherry color, mahogany wood, mother of pearl dots. I feel like a car salesman.

Everything Gibson made from that era is solid gold Mouse.

I just looked at about 10 different Nice 66-67 SG Jr's in diverse places and not a single on of them is selling for less that $1025 some of them are up into the $1200's -$1300's (Excellent to Near Mint Condition)

There is a really sweet one on ebay right now 67 i believe with (2)! full days left on the auction and it's already up to $1200....which means for this specific guitar it may go for $1500 - $2000 at close.

If you have one of these do not sell it.....it's gonna be worth $10,000 - $20,000 in ten years.

I would love to see a picture of this Guitar.

Here's a 64 SG Jr. kinda rough but still nice....$1250.00 so far
