Language
This is not "what languages can you speak" but rather what languages do you speak.
In day to day life I speak English with one roommate, Mandarin with another, but outside is almost always Spanish. All my reading (newspapers, magazines) is in English. I just had sushi delivered for lunch; the delivery guy was Southern Chinese, but we spoke Spanish. I could never remember the numbers in Chinese ["four, six, ten, to die, to kill, and to be" are all homophones: "shi"]
At the Halal supermarket it's all in English except for the "Shukrân, Selam aleykün." (That's the Turkish version; I don't know how it's spelled in Urdu or Bangla.)
Although what the fuck are they doing selling pernil in the helal meat section?
{helal means Muslim kosher, and pernil is pork - strictly verboten}
