I believe that for there to be a trial, you have to have the suspected perpetrators in custody, or at least be able to identify them.

Also, it was the Pentagon that were initially trying to limit discussion of the torture aspect, just speaking about it in vague terms (presumably for the sake of the relatives). The main news organisations don't go into graphic detail on violence, it seems to me, in general; all very different, I gather, from the coverage that goatboy saw in Spain and which is seen in much of the rest of the world (not sure if they showed the beheading videos in Spain, however). The UK tends to be similar to the US in that the news doesn't tend to show graphic detail.
