While the US was putting the Space Shuttle Discovery into orbit, apparently Kim Jong-Il was putting up a bottle rocket of his own.

It was not intercepted, but according to the news it "failed" after 30-45 seconds.

Supposedly, this is a missile that could reach the US mainland with a "light payload."

So, are the accomodations in this handbasket to everyone's liking? I'm sorry, but the AC doesn't get any colder than this.

well. It is an inevitable fact that hostile polities, be they nation states or not will eventually get their hands of enough long range firepower to act as a deterrent. And why wouldn't they want to. In the last 50 years or so, every nation with a stockpile of nukes has been left alone.

It makes perfect sense from the perspective of polities hostile to the west (or china, Russia etc.). Most of the world has had to put up with the West rattling the Sabre for half a century now. We will need to learn how to navigate when others start reciprocating the gesture.
