You know that saying, "The doctor's children are always the sickest?" Well, my old neighbor was a master's student in speech pathology. Because of her study schedule, she'd plant her 3-year-old daughter in front of the Teletubbies show, video tapes, cassette tape sing-a-longs, etc., every day. Needless to say, I was quite disturbed when a four-year-old peeping tom burst into my bedroom one day while I was changing, and said, "eww a naked," with a distinct teletubbies' intonation and subsequent giggle. The kid has never learned to talk properly, from what I understand. She's now 6.
I hate the teletubbies for many reasons, but the foremost is that every time I hear them, I still remember the shock of that day. Don't people tell their children not to wander into other people's homes? And I live in the country, so we rarely lock our doors out here.
