I've got things squared away with Chris now. As far as why I wasn't out with Kindra: several reasons.

1) You try enjoying yourself while you're in the middle of a bipolar cycle.

2) I think I need to clear up a few questions I now have before I'll even consider asking her again.

3) Shit got way more complicated than it had been and I need to evaluate the situation.

Things just aren't adding up to me. I keep going over the whole sequence of events and just don't see a hint of whatever variable it is I'm overlooking. Solve for x.

Option A: x = Kindra was just saying yes because she didn't want to hurt my feelings.

That's an option that explains why she didn't call me like she was supposed to.

Option B: x = She said something to Jeff and he was lying about it.

That also makes sense, although I've nearly ruled that out. But it's still an option because I can't 100% rule it out.

Option C: x = Jeff being overly protective of her for some reason.

That is also plausible. Jeff has known Kindra for much longer than I have. He could be pulling an Older Brother on me.

So now I'm at an impasse. How do I handle the situation in a way that results in a win-win situation? Is there even a win-win condition? Is it even worth my time?

I'm not good at math. I hate math. It has always made my head hurt.

Maybe Jeff's into her and is freaking out about anyone else talking to her.

How did he know you'd asked her out in the first place if she didn't say anything to him? Why should he care? Doesn't he know you? Is it not okay to ask a girl out in that town? WTF?

And what's wrong with saying to him that you like her and asked her out and that he should mind his own business unless she asked him to talk to you about it. If she did, then bow out and stop going to that shop. They're weird anyway if they triangulate their communication like that.

You didn't do anything wrong, though you probably looked like a dork for sending all those emails. Leave it be. If she calls you, then pick up where you left off and forget about this Jeff dude. He's the weirdo. I wouldn't ever think of having the kind of talk he had with you unless some girl asked me to, and even then I'd more likely tell her to write you a letter and leave me out of her love life.

He's got some other agenda, or she's passive aggressive.

I've run into her a couple of times in the last week. She pretty much doesn't talk to me, and when she does there's that "You make me sick, get the fuck out of my space" tone.

I've tried calling her several times to try and get shit straightened out, and she won't answer my calls.

At this point I'm done with it. I've done what I can, but the damage is done.

I would move outta that town and into a big city where there are more viable dating options for you. You'd likely be amazed at how different life can be when you actually meet a larger number of available women in a given day. I mean, the biggest town you lived in til now was what, Dubuque?

I prefer my towns in the 10,000 - 15,000 population range.
