There's a subtle, disjointed connection to the events that impinge against our personal sphere's of consciousness - kind of like free association stream of words leaking from you aunt as she slowly deflates like a balloon. Enjoy the musty breeze.
I hope your sister grieves well and cleanly and your aunt expires with a minimum of pain and indignity. You and me too for that matter.

Hopefully your aunt has had a good, long life. It's hard to watch most anyone die, especially when it's drawn out like that. It's little consolation to think that at least they'll be out of pain once they are gone, but it's often true.
As for your sister, that is a very common occurance. Not that that makes it less painfull. The only consolation, however minute it is, is that the body knows when it's best not carry a baby to term. I feel for her, and you. I have been both a parent and an uncle (not to the same kids, mind you) and both were far more fulfilling than I had previously imagined.
I wish you and yours the best.

Someone said to me that they didn't know which would be the worse circumstance...to be present and see a loved one pass to the other side of life or to not have the opportunity to be present.

What's the big deal? There's already far too many of us on this very limited planet. The sanctity of human life is but a function of the wealth of a country. It's an unnecessary illusion. Many people should and need to die.

He's right, though. Mourning death is a mistake - what we actually mourn is our own personal weakness. But that can be improved upon, ultimately by accepting death.
Not that it's really relevant here.

I didn't say that mourning death is a mistake. I basically said that most people, especially in modern times and in developed countries, mourn it too much.
Really, this preoccupation with death and dying is only a hindrance to life and living. It's just another unnecessary illusion that we can do away with. All things must end- why is the mere ending of one life so important as to interfere with the rest of the journey(s)?

It sounded to me like the blog was about suffering. Either due to illness or the loss of a child.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. My aunt finally gave up breathing late Monday. I'm over in Michigan for the services tomorrow.
And I agree with you plum. That was that whole "over carrying-capacity" bit. I do feel for my sister, as I'm sure she is hurting right now - but she'll get over it. I'm just glad it's over for my aunt and her family.
I wasn't trying to come across as sad or mournful when I wrote that. I was somewhat drunk and the thoughts of death brought me to ponder just how weird all of this life is, as I am often reminded by reading the Asylum.

I'm glad to have met you,Paul. You were flat cold drunk but I sensed you have a good soul. And the very fact that you were there to see your auntie probably meant more for her than anyone can imagine. And I think she knew you were there. Sorry I didn't see this blog sooner. Condolences for your sister as well.
Long live TRAY!

Plum and those with the opinion~
Death is the most natural part of Living that we will experience.
However to walk with out feeling the loss of a loved one is a disrespect to what they gave to the world and the people who they loved and loved them.
I think some of you are very cold hearted and no doubt lost in a world you cant escape. You find the world is to crowed ... yes I agree, but to tell a person to deny their feelings is wrong. We feel joy when we receive, We laugh in glee, We eat , drink and sleep. We feel cold and hot, we shit and piss, we all bleed the red of blood. So tell me why is it bad to feel loss pain and sadness? Maybe in your lives, you have not been given the gift of death and so you speak blindly.
We you refuse to listen and feel your feeling as they come , You will indeed lay dying reviewing all you missed.
When the tears fall in passing , maybe there is a balance between joy and pain..

So any time you say goodbye to someone, you're a sobbing wreck?
Just grow up - sorrow over someone's death comes from a possessive child who feels unjustly abandoned in a big and scary world. It is an utterly cultural reaction.
