I have no idea what grissel is. I have indeed been told it's a goiter .. so it's not just a thick neck, it's a ... small blob on the front side of my throat which makes it hard to swallow.

My doctor thinks that I am producing antibodies against my own thyroid gland. It's called Hashimotos disease.

It's a slow process though and he wants to see what he can do before giving me medication that means I will lose my thyroid gland.

Well, ok that's that.

My mom had goiter issues. She's also had surgery. Her dad had it too. He also had surgery. I have been suspected of thyroid. I have been tested for thryroid. However, I came out safe. Best wishes, Mokkorri!

SSimon, hypothyriodism is a very slow process especially when it comes to young women. Most symptoms or problem shows up due to pregnancies, birth control pills or other hormone disruptions. Normally you can have just a few symptoms and it doesn't have to show anywhere at all. The most common ones are just feeling frozen and tired. So the way she looks doesn't have to a have a "part" in her possibly having hypothyriodism.

The only way you could see it with me is seeing a small lump on my neck. Unless you talked to me and asked you probably wouldn't have any idea I was having other symptoms.
